The Year of the Slam

Time to reflect once more on a fantastic year 2018, once again my clients old & new have made me very proud, through commitment & handwork, humor & strength of character - they continue to inspire me, thank you one & all!

A mention to Russ achieving a sub 24 hour 100 miler at the SDW100 in June, Dario & Neil both completing 12 marathon in 12 months, Meera consistently achieving PB's on all her distances, Matt & Clair completing their first Ultra together, Hazel taking on her first marathon LVM. Christian smashing his target Ultra - just a few of the many achievements this year, too many to list everyone.

Consistency - bad ass hard as nails work ethic goes to Marnie - also photogenic & downright gorgeous!

As for my running year - I think "I'll get by with a little help from my friends" just about sums it up. I took on my biggest challenge to date the Centurion Grand Slam, and got the buckles & t-shirt, but more importantly a character changing experience, highs & lows, blood sweat & tears - it was all I hoped for and more - never really about the end result, it was actually the journey to achieving the result where the magic happens, every victory of standing up & taking another step forward when your body is screaming stop - but your mind says "no not finished yet".

I cannot thank my crew & pacers enough for giving up their time this year, to help me achieve a dream.

The years tally will stand at just over 1700 recorded miles

1 x 20 miler

11 x Marathons

7 x Ultras including the 4 100 milers

1 x DNF my first at 28 miles of the mudbath that was the Thames Trot last Feb.

2019 key races for me ChesterUltra 100, Beacons Way 100 & King Offas Dyke 185 - so looking forward to getting started on the training plan!

Some massive challenges coming up for Clients & friends too I really look forward to being part of their journeys in 2019, including welcoming a very good friend into the 100 Marathon Club!

For now thank you for being part of my year - whatever your goals for 2019 remember to focus and train your mind, trust me its just as important as your physical training.

Aim for the stars - there is no such thing as failure, just an opportunity to learn & perfect for next time & remember

"The minute you start believing in yourself, believing that you are strong beyond measure – your body will find the strength to do the things you need to do – train your mind first, the body will follow."

Sheila Rose - training ordinary people just like me to do extraordinary things since 2012

Much love & respect

Sheila xx
