What is Chi?

Chi is life-giving energy that unites mind, body and spirit.

Are you only focusing on the physical aspects of your health and fitness? If so you’re missing out on a whole realm of practice that could have a profound affect on not only your training but also your life. Our unique approach, with attention on the psychological as well as physical, will boost your self confidence, increase focus and help you to stay healthy and active in all areas of your life. You’ll soon find that you can breathe easier, move better, run further and have more fun along the way!

Chi Running takes age-old principles from T’ai Chi to help you move more efficiently and effectively, improve your performance and reduce the risk of getting injured.  It doesn’t matter what age or level of runner you are, Chi Running will help you build the foundations of great running technique.

Chi Running 1-Day Foundation Workshop

A one day workshop will build the foundations of your Chi Running technique and develop your skills through practical exercises, drills and visualizations.

We’ll work on:

  • Creating a relaxed, stable base of support for your body when you run, the key to good running form

  •  How to reduce impact and effort by moving from your centre and cooperating with gravity

  •  The importance of the upper body and arm swing

  •  Increasing speed through relaxation

  •  Optimal cadence for fluid and efficient running

  •  Building mental focus and body awareness

Includes individual video observation of your current running form to give you a clear sense of the key areas where you can improve efficiency and reduce impact on the body.

You’ll learn how to develop your running skill and create a life-long programme for health and fitness.

Suitable for all levels of runner and all levels of fitness, from complete beginner to experienced ultra-marathoner

Workshops are kept to a maximum of 8 so each student gets individual attention and guidance.

Just had my introduction to Chi Running with Sheila & wow, a lot to consider ......but it all makes perfect sense.

From the position of your feet, alignment & posture (ankles, hips & shoulders) ...finding my bowl of “chi”....I know how it sounds, but stick with it as one of Sheila’s strengths is getting you to easily visualise what you should be doing & finally rounding up on breathing ...

It really was a whistle stop tour, but definitely has piqued my interest for a follow up ...not sure how it will work out, but if like me you love running & are just bored of the old “injury/fix/injury” merry go round...then maybe...just maybe this is the light at the end of the tunnel
