I ran the my last (official) road marathon bringing the tally to 103 last Saturday 11th Nov. to complete my 100 Marathon Club requirements (you need 10 certified road races ) at Autumn Shakespeare course at Long Marston a disused airfield, to say I'm more at home on trails even when knee deep in mud (and other stuff) is an understatement, road races are really not my thing - except maybe in Suffolk with undulating countryside! But anyhow it was one of those days where you arrive on a cold wet day & really don't want to leave the car 😣 to collect your number never mind stripping & running 8+ laps!
But these ones do test mental strength & while I do advocate running events you enjoy, sometimes in order to reach the goal you just have to grit your teeth and get on with it! I spent my entire marathon focusing on posture, energy efficiency, relaxation & breathing techniques - I was indeed needle & cotton you will have heard me going on about needle & cotton and my Dantian if you have worked with me recently - so a few hours focusing on my learning with Chi Running UK ! Despite my lack of enthusiasm for this race I felt strong & relaxed and my butt hurt after always a sign of good running form in my book 😂😎 and I got to rock the Blue/Yellow vest xx
